Two days ago, Republicans declared a Democrat-led plan to cut $3 trillion from our burgeoning deficit as
dead on arrival. Then yesterday, Republicans released their own $2.2 trillion initiative that includes $500 billion in cuts to Medicare, $185 billion in cuts to Medicaid and the potential broadening of the tax base via the closing of loopholes and breaks, as well as a reduction in tax rates for the rich -- something which did not go well with Democratic Leader
Nancy Pelosi (D-CA).
"It’s not fair to say to a senior you’re going to pay more for social security and we’re not going to touch a hair on the head of the wealthiest people in our country."
Indeed. What ever happened to shared sacrifice? Why is it that the bottom tiers of society must pay for us to get out of this mess, when it was in fact the
top tiers of society who pulled us into it to begin with?
